I had a conversation with my brother last night about the big news story in sports. An NBA referee was implicated in fixing the games for the mob and the NBA commissioner may be involved.
This is quite disappointing for professional sports. I always thought sports was about the love of the game, fair competition and fun.
This morning I played 3 on 3 cross-court with my regular morning basketball group. It was shere fun. Even joking about how refs must be fixing our friendly game competition when one team or the other was losing was fun.
This morning was about complimenting other players - on the same team and on the opposing team. It was about fun and good clean competition. It was about the love of the game.
There must be a way that professional sports can recapture those qualities.
Yeah the game needs to go back to the fans. Let fans rank the refs, vote on player salaries per month, etc. The Internet is there for all that and the game would be resurrected.
