How-to: Focusing on your wants

Posted February 20, 2007, by drLove

What we focus on grows. When we focus on solutions, - solutions appear. When we focus on problems, - problems appear. What would you choose?

Ingredients:

  • your ability and desire to focus
  • a belief in the "Law of Attraction" - i.e. what we think about and generate feelings for, we bring about.

Steps:

  1. Observe what you are feeling.  Does it feel good?  Then keep doing whatever it is you're doing.
  2. Does what you're doing or thinking feel bad?  First have a desire to change your focus.
  3. Second step is to focus on those things that make you feel good.  You do this by generating feelings of gratitude, love, passion, excitement for those things that help you feel good.
  4. Take your focus away from things you don't want in your life, and intensely focus on all the things you do want in your life.

drLove: What your wrote in your comment sounds funny, but it could be as useful and revolutionary for someone like me as is focusing what "I want for myself" for a pessimist.

Well, then this would be perfect for you peter. All you need to do is focus on wanting to focus on the needs of other people. How does it make you feel when you focus on that? Keep focusing, and soon you'll be Mr. Good Samaritan incarnate! that or the First Worker!! hahahaha :):):):)

I think this works splendidly for pessimists (ie. "that won't work for me") and youth, decently for optimist-pessimists (ie. "stop or go? stop or go? I need more time"), and no so good for optimists (ie. "the world is my oyster"). The reason is that the last group have been already focusing on their own wants all their life, and what they need more is to take a minute to focus on the wants and needs of others. But for pessimists and youth, I'd give this 5 stars.
