How-to: Using Honey not Salt

Posted March 14, 2007, by drLove

No this is not a food recipe. My husband always tells me that you can attract bees with honey better than you can with salt.

Ingredients:

  • wanting something from someone
  • an initial feeling of frustration, disappointment or irritation at not getting what you want
  • desire to shift your energy
  • a creative way of thinking

Steps:

  1. After your initial frustration at being upset with someone because you didn't get what you wanted, chillax.
  2. Take the angst out of your wanting before you approach this lucky someone with your next request.
  3. Come from your wanting.  "I want ...", instead of "I don't want ...."
  4. At this point, ditch the criticism, indignation and entitlement that you may be thinking or feeling.  (i.e. salt does not attract bees, it only makes wounds sting)
  5. Then lay on the honey because this is what attracts bees.  Not phoney flattery (however I've seen this work too), but sincere appreciation, praise and expression of desire for a win-win situation.
  6. Brain storm with that lucky someone, a creative win-win solution (i.e. exquisite compromise).  "This is what I want, and you want something completely different.  How can we both get what we want? or can we choose to be happy and meet half way?"
