Answer to: over eating, what is the problem?

Posted October 9, 2007, by haiku

Yikes! Pepsi? Not just weight...what about your teeth? I went through a long period when all I could drink was that grapefruit soda (can't even remember the name now). Finally stopped when I realized it was related to a dry-mouth symptom I had; water just wasn't doing the trick. I switched to water with a squirt of fresh lemon or lime....it worked. The importance is not so much what others say (although they might awaken you to something you're keeping tamped down subconsciously), but to drill down to the core reasons for the addictive behaviour. I think habits are more easily substituted than erased. Trying to erase a habit leaves this gaping hole...substituting requires more deliberation (what will you substitute it with? why? what are the benefits? etc.) in both thought and action.
