A very good description of eye floaters is found in Wikipedia.
Basically, not a serious problem medically, just a nuisance. However, sudden onset of floaters or flashes should be IMMEDIATELY seen by an optometrist/opthamologist as this could be an medical emergency (e.g. retinal detachment).
I was interested to read on Wikipedia about surgery and laser. I know nothing about this. And I sure as hell wouldn't have anyone doing any of these procedures on me unless there was a long successful history of these procedures with this condition.
But this is what I have seen.
I have seen in some patients, floaters disappear with aggressive liver cleanses and maintenance of good liver detoxification. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the liver is connected to the eyes.
I have seen floaters disappear with homeopathic medicine, however, that is very individual therapy regarding this symptom, and it's not a "cookbook" approach where one remedy fits all.
I haven't seen this, but I imagine that floaters would also improve with Chinese herbal medicine since imbalance in the liver would probably be key here in having aggravated or created the floaters.
If I had floaters (which I don't), I would also take high doses Bilberry, Luetin, Zanthin, and probably high doses of antioxidants like Grape Seed, Vitamin C, and other phytonutrients.
