Shortcut to Tingling

Posted May 7, 2007, by peter

Last month, I attended a lecture by John Gray (the author of Mens are from Mars, Women from Venus). During the lecture, he had the audience stand up and go through the "Jigglin' and Shakin'" Recipe I just posted.

After I did it, waves of a pleasant tingling sensation ran up and down the back of my body and out my fingertips. I asked Gray about it, and he said that the tingling was the flow of Chi (energy).

I have experienced this pleasant tingling sensation in various circumstances:

  1. listening to music that moves me emotionally
  2. moving from a cold place into a warm room
  3. meditating for 10-15 minutes, then with eyes closed, picturing a white light entering my head between my eyebrows
  4. reading moving stories about people unexpectedly expressing unconditional love

I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones that come to mind right now.

This shaking and jiggling thing is a fun thing to do, especially with our little toddler. Right now, she watches me curiously. Pretty soon, she'll be joining me.

If I recall correctly, Gray claimed that this practice helps to "get the lymph system moving". Among other functions, the lymph system is critical to our immune system.

Try it out and let me know how you like it.
