The Easy Way to Stop Smoking

Posted May 22, 2007, by God

Author Allen Carr wrote "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking."  He boasts a 90% success rate at his clinics around the globe.  I battled addiction to nicotine for over 30 years trying everything from hypnosis to nicotine replacement products.  Here is how I finally stopped, easily, permanently and happily.

After doing an internet search on how to stop smoking I came upon "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking."  It seems odd to me that I did not find this book earlier as I had tried to stop smoking for at least 20 years.  I tried everything from hypnosis to nicotine replacement.  Nothing worked.  However, I always believed that since I chose to smoke, if I really wanted to, i could choose to stop even though I hadn't done it yet.  I think that belief kept me searching.  Lots of people give up too soon.

To make a long story short, I ordered the book.  I got home around 6:00pm on Feb 13, 2007.  I made a snack and started reading this book with excitement.  I hoped I would find something to help me.  I recall reading the reviews of the book earlier from smokers who claimed that it had helped them stop smoking happily and immediately.  The author implored readers to follow the directions completely and to not stop smoking until we had read the entire book.  This is an important instruction and I'm glad I decided to follow it.

I finished the book four hours later and smoked my last cigarette.  I could barely wait to finish reading so that I could be done with my life long habit.  I have not smoked since and know that I will never smoke again.  Here is the first paragraph in the preface to the book:

"At last the miracle cure all smokers have been waiting for:  Instantaneous, equally effective for the light or heavy smoker, no bad withdrawal pangs, no willpower required, no shock treatment, no aids or gimmicks required, no weight gain, permanent!"

It is not an exaggeration.  It works!  I am so thankful I found this book.  If you smoke, do yourself a favor and read it.

I recommended this book to a patient over one year ago. He told his friend about it, a friend who had been smoking for over 30 years, and has not had a cigarette for over one year since. My patient is presently reading the book and is quitting this weekend. Thanks for the idea of the book!! (This patient was diagnosed 2 years ago with cancer of the tongue - a disease directly caused by smoking).

to drLove: Woohoo! God is in da house! One cool thing about signing up early as a Holonation is that we get pretty much whatever member name we want. e.g. God gets to be "God", rather than "God378". God378 just wouldn't have the same oomph.

to drLove: Hey drLove! What a wonderful beautiful person you are! And what an awesome website you have created! If I ever get sick, I'm coming to visit you! ;-) To answer your question, the book helps smokers by challenging and giving readers the opportunity to change the beliefs that keep them smoking. For example, many smokers will say they smoke because it is relaxing, calms them down, or gives them something to do with their hands. These are all beliefs along the lines of "I smoke because..." When you can't fill in that blank anymore you simply stop easily and permanently. I highly recommend this book to people who love someone who smokes. The author includes a chapter about how you can help loved ones to stop and it's also great to really understand why people smoke! Love, God

I LOVE testimonies that involve dramatic turn arounds. It reminds me that all things are possible. I'm just curious: from this book, is it changing beliefs that is the key for a person to stop smoking, or does the author give actual techniques that help?

Kinda makes me wish I was a smoker so I could read this book and turn my life around. :) Thanks for the great Testimony.
