Splitting nails on my child

My daughter is 6yrs old and has splitting nails.  What nutritional deficiency does this indicate?  Thanks Eileen

What do you mean by splitting? Flaking? Cracking down the middle vertically? Usually in children, the nails flake and peel off easily. This is a mineral deficiency. It could be one of many minerals, or a combination of minerals. Calcium (and vitamin D) is the most common. It could also be Silica. At times, it is indirectly a mineral/vitamin deficiency because of what the child is eating...
