Need Advice For Skin Condition

Posted October 18, 2008

Hi, I am a 35 yr old female. Last Jan I was on the beach with my family and when I got home I had two bug bites (I assumed they were mosquito bites) that itched intensely and scratched them to the point that they opened up. Long story short, the sores never went away, and after several months I went to the my general doctor (I dislike doctors) and the advice was to put antibiotic ointment on them w/bandages. That didn't work, so I went to a Dermatologist who told me I had PN (prurigo nodularis) and that it was genetic and just to accept it and not to take hot showers and to moisturize alot. Depressed by that visit I read some on the internet regarding the condition (there is not alot of information) and decided to see a disease specialist to make sure it was not a staph infection. Well the specialist put me on a round of antibiotics and told me to come back in two wks if it wasn't healed....it didn't heal.

My question is: Is it a possibility that I have too many toxins in my body and this is a reaction to that? I have had the basic blood wk done and the only thing that came back was that I was very anemic which I took iron pills. I am desperately trying to find a reason behind my skin problem. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

 Thanks!

Tracy
